Postdoctoral and Gynecologic Oncology Fellows

Jaidev Bapat, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Jaidev Bapat graduated from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Decmeber 2023 with a PhD in Cancer Biology. He joined the Fuh lab as a postdoctoral fellow in March 2024, where he is investigating the effects of DDR2 expression in CAFs on the ovarian cancer immune microenvironment, and characterizing the role of AXL signaling on angiogenesis in uterine serous cancer.

Wanda Gan, MD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Wanda is a dedicated physician from Germany who graduated from Ulm University in 2021. Currently in her third year of OB/GYN residency, she has developed a strong focus on gynecologic oncology. In January 2025, Wanda joined the Fuh Lab as a postdoctoral fellow, where she is committed to advancing medical treatments and improving outcomes for patients with gynecologic cancers. Her passion for innovation and patient care drives her work in this important field.

Sofia Ruau, MD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Sofia is a medical doctor from Argentina, where she earned her degree from Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Sofia joined the Fuh lab as a postdoctoral fellow in 2024. She is passionate about advancing women's health with a particular focus on researching and ameliorating therapies for aggressive gynecological cancers.

Leah Wormack, MD, MS

Gynecologic Oncology Fellow

Leah obtained her medical doctorate from the University of South Carolina Greenville. She then completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency here at UCSF and is currently completing a fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology. Leah joined the Fuh lab as a medical fellow and researcher, with a focus on immune profiling in uterine cancers.

After graduation, she worked in the Jacks lab at MIT where she investigated the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeler and lung cancer. Manon joined both the Fuh and Ashworth labs in 2023, where she investigates therapeutic targets and TME promotion of ovarian cancer metastasis, therapeutic resistance, and immune suppression.

Staff

Sirirak Buarpung, DVM, PhD

Lab Manager | Also manages Gaw and Robinson labs

Dr. Buarpung is a graduate of veterinary medicine from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. She earned her doctorate with her studies on male gamete preservation and assisted with reproductive technology aimed for endangered wild felids conservation. After her postdoc, Dr. Buarpung worked in a fertility clinic for 2 years. With all that, she has become fascinated by the science behind ovarian health. Dr. Buarpung joined the Fuh Lab in 2023 and supports all of the projects.

Kailea Wiese

Junior Specialist | PROPEL Scholar

Kailea graduated from UC Davis, where she researched how traumatic brain injury coupled with overexpression of Tau causes neurodegeneration and leads to changes in behavior. She also investigated the function of the Microtubule-Associated Protein, Doublecortin, in regards to microtubule cooperativity and binding behavior.
